OK, I think my couch time has gone on long enough. I started thinking that maybe I had gotten back in the game a little late. There is too much competition, I have a full time job, oh what else? The excuses are endless. I went to a meeting a couple weeks ago with my boss. We met with the owner of one of the oldest audio companies. They have been around since the 60’s and used to be really well known. When walmart and mega-super-gross mart came on the scene, it put the high end audio stores out of business. Everyone started to want cheap crap headphones, it killed the industry. Out of nowhere, Bose comes out with massive two page ads for $399 headphones! I bought some, actually I bought 2 pairs, one for me one for my father. At any rate this other company had to scramble to change the model again, they knew high quality headphones, but got caught with their pants down. Well short story long, they want to get back in the game and they need some heavy duty web marketing. So this is why we met.
The reason for me telling you all of this, is that he told us he was currently paying a local SEO company in Wisconsin, $400 a month for their platinum package, and he wanted me to look at it and tell him exactly what they had been doing for them. NOTHING. ZERO. He showed me a thick packet of paper that was nothing but a webtrends printout, and SERP listing. I was topfloored . After looking around at my competition, I am seeing that I shouldnt expect much more from these other guys. This should really go on my business site, but I am struggling with sitting down for a re-design, so I needed to put this somewhere so that I could remind myself to turn off the TV and get to work.
